Wild Senna Cassia hebecarpa

Wild Senna gets very tall and has whorled, compound leaves on sturdy stems that captivate children and adults alike. Bright yellow pea-type blooms cover the tops on the stems July to September. It’s stunning in bloom. It spreads by both seed and runners, so give it some room. It has a deep tap root, making it difficult to relocate once growing. Useful as a centerpiece with shorter perennials around it, and as a screen, as it can be mowed into place to control shape and spread.
